City of Lights

Well I just got back from a long weekend in Paris with Jenn and Nora. We had a wonderful time. What a beautiful city. And even though it was cold we managed to miss the rain everytime! Friday Nora and I arrived via the Eurostar and met Jenn at our lovely little hotel in the Latin Quarter right around the corner from Notre Dame. We went shopping a bit on Friday and just checked out our home for the next few days. That night we went to www.le-train-bleu.com/ for dinner. It is actually right in a train station. It looks a bit sketchy but the food was fantastic and very French. Really great food and the waitstaff was very patient with 3 Americans:) However, I do have to say thank goodness for Jenn and her great French skills and wonderful accent. She definitely helped us out!

Saturday we woke up to a breakfast of several croissants at the bakery downstairs from our hotel. Then we headed to Musée d’Orsay where we saw works by Degas, Monet, Renoir, and many more. Such wonderful works. After that we headed to Musée de l’Orangerie where there are a series of Monet’s paintings stretched out around you. You just sit and look at these beautiful paintings and each one really affects you differently. After our artistic spots we headed for some people watching on Champs- Élysées where we stopped for some refreshing 6 euro Cokes! Then to Laduree for some French sweet treats. Finally we stopped to sneak a peak at the most beautiful hotel. The Four Seasons on George V. Maybe one day! Now at this point lets just say I was not feeling that hot and needed to head back to the hotel. A bit too much French food!! So I took it easy that night while Jenn and Nora went out for a lovely meal.

Luckily I was feeling much better on Sunday so we headed to Montmartre to see Sacre-Coeur and Moulin Rouge. Such a beautiful spot. We wandered around Montmartre and saw the painters and cute shops. Sunday night we headed to our last recommended restaurant, Maitre Albert . Another great meal. Finally we headed to see a burlesque show at Crazy Horse. It was such an experience. A really fun evening out.

So that’s my trip to Paris. Made wonderful by some fantastic friends:) And some very good food, museums, shops, and sights!
