Beer, Glorious Beer

This past Saturday I attended my second Beer Advocate festival – Extreme Beer Fest.  You may remember my post on the Belgian Beer Fest from last Fall.  This next one did not disappoint.  The beers were incredible.  Lots of stouts which I’ve really been enjoying lately.  But let’s cut to the chase and see what I was lucky enough to consume:

  • Allagash Curieux – Bourbon bbl-aged Tribel 11%
  • Avery Mephistopheles’ Stout – Belgian Imperial Stout 16%
  • Berkshire Brewing combo of Russian Imperial Stout and 2010 Raspberry Barley Wine
  • Cambridge Brewing CBC/Stone/Victory Project Venus – Dubbel w/fresh oranges, orange blossom honey & safrron 9%
  • Dark Horse Brewing Sour Plead the 5th Imperial Stout – Bourbon bbl-aged, 1-year wild fermentation 12%
  • Dogfish Head World Wide Stout vs Randall – Imperial stout w/JP Licks espresso beans 18%
  • Firestone Walker Lil’ Opal – Oak-aged Farmhouse Saison 3.8%
  • Founders Brewing KBS – American Double/Imperial Stout 11.2%
  • Harpoon Brewery 2009 Chocolate Stout w/Brett (cask) – English Stout 7.5%
  • Haverhill Brewing Fire and Weiss – Gratzer, 100 percent smoked wheat malt 4.8%
  • Rouge Ales XS Imperial Stout – Russian Imperial Stout 11%
  • Rouge Ales Chatoe Rogue Dirtoir Black Lager – Black Lager 6%
  • Shmaltz Brewing Rejewvenator Year of the Grape – Hybrid Belgian-style Dubbel/Doppelbock, sacred Concord grape 8.2% [if you only click one brewery link, click this one – hilarious]
  • Short’s Brewing Almond Joy – Experimental 6%
  • Sierra Nevada 2 x 4 – Bbl-aged Belgian Strong Dark Ale 9%
  • SixPoint Craft Bolshoi! – Imperial Stout 9.6%
  • Stone Brewing Supremely Self Conscious Ale – Black Mild Ale, dry hopped 3.5%
  • Weyerbacher Brewing Quatro Krazy – Imperial Stout, Bourbon bbl-aged w/coffee, ginseng 18%

Yeah.  So it was awesome.  And there were even a few that I didn’t write down. Already looking forward to the next one – American Craft Beer Fest in June.

  2. I’m suprised you were even able to write anything down for days after a menu like that! I’m a big fan of IPA’s these days and Rogue’s Juniper IPA is a must try if you ever see it.

  3. That sounds AMAZING. I went to a brewfest called Suds of the South this weekend, and while it was good, I know it can’t even compare. Um, can I come visit you in Boston next time you hit up one of these? 😀
