Defend, Don’t Defund! Rally

As many of you probably know, I was raised in Western Mass in a part of the world that is sometimes lovingly referred to as the “PC Valley.”  And I’m proud of it.  My parents raised me to be politically aware and engaged.  And that all people, no matter race or gender, deserved the same rights and entitlements.  I feel so very lucky that I was raised in this manner and that I was always encouraged to speak my mind and to question the status quo.

My mother is a long-standing board member of Tapestry Health in Western Mass.  So when she told me that the CEO, long-time friend, and fellow 3/29 birthday pal, would be speaking at the Defend, Don’t Defund! rally this past Saturday I knew I needed to be there to support her and the cause.

At issue are the threats to family planning and health services.  Funding to groups like Planned Parenthood, amongst others, is in danger of being cut.  Also, in Massachusetts, as well as other states, Title X is in danger as well.  Title X funding provides family planning resources to those who are unable to afford them.  Tapestry and other organizations need this funding to provide services to those who need them most.  These are VITAL ISSUES!!!  And it was time to speak out about them.  We will not be silenced.
